Hungarian Noodles with Carmelized Cabbage and Bacon- Káposzta Tészta

Ingredients
12ozegg noodles
1/2 tspsalt
6slicessmoked butcher's bacon, cut 1/2 inch slices
2tbspvegetable oil (if necessary)
1mediumonion, sliced
1smallhead of green cabbage, cored and thinly sliced
1tspsalt
1/2 tspblack pepper
dill, for garnishing
Instructions
Prepare a medium size pot for egg noodle pasta, once boiled, add salt and pasta. Cook until al denta, drain and set aside.
In a skillet or fry pan, over medium heat, cook sliced bacon until slightly crispy, remove and transfer to a plate.
Add onion to skillet or fry pan, and sauté until transparent and starts to caramelize. A tablespoon or two of oil may need to be added if bacon was too lean.
Add cabbage to skillet/fry pan and cover, stirring occasionally. Cook until cabbage has soften and is transparent, and caramelized This takes approximately 10-12 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
Add the pasta, and bacon to the skillet/fry pan, and toss until well combined. Check the seasoning if anymore needs to be added. Garnish with dill is desired.
Serve warm and enjoy as a main dish.

Note: you can purchase smoked thick butchers bacon at a local butcher store or grocery stores at the meat counter.
