Nutrition and healthy eating has always been a passion of mine. I loved the experience of growing up on a farm with accessibility of fresh vegetables and fruit. We not only had abundance of fresh produce but we also had our own fresh poultry and meats. I believe it started as a child and I continued this desire and love through my cooking and from there educating students the importance of eating healthy has become a second passion of mine.
Connect to Nature

Every year when lavender season is in full bloom, I look forward to visiting a local lavender farm. This year we went to a quaint and beautiful country farm in Sparta Ontario. The stunning lavender gardens are in full swing this time of the year. The gentle and yet intense scent of the delicate English lavender is known to relax and reconnect to nature. The white Melissa lavender has a sweet fragrance yet less intense as the purple. This delicate flower has more of a honey-like flavour and both of these flowers can be used for culinary purposes. As well, they both promote relaxation, reducing stress and improving quality of sleep. We had their lavender ice cream and what a treat that was, it was the best ice cream I have had in years! What better way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon!
