This fresh, tangy, minty, and flavourful salsa makes a perfect accompaniment to any grill meats. It’s colourful and so delicious that you will want to keep this recipe.

Salsa’s are often a lovely, and perfect side to add to any grilled meats. They are often fresh and so flavourful. This recipe I really like it is tasty enough and not overpowering when added to any dish.

Salsa is so versatile so don’t hesitate to add it to wraps, tacos, burgers, sandwiches, pasta salads, add to a bruschetta and great as a dip.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS

Tomato: I used the inside of the heirloom tomato to add to this recipe, and used it as a serving dish, however, if you don’t have a heirloom tomato, no worries, simply add a medium tomato or about 4-5 cherry tomatoes

Strawberries: I suggest using fresh local strawberries, for lots of flavour

Shallot: a subtle onion flavour but enough to taste

Red pepper: adds colour and texture

Avocado: gives this salsa some substance and slight creaminess

Parsley: adds fresh flavour

Mint: enough for a hint of a fresh mint flavour and use fresh mint

Salt: needed to bring out the flavours

Lime juice: adds a tangy freshness to this salsa

WHAT MAKES SALSA SO DELICIOUS

Salsa’s can be so much fun creating and when there are fresh local fruits and vegetables, the flavours pop! Summertime is the best time to experiment and have fun creating combinations of salsa’s with all the fresh local produce we have.

In this recipe, I used fresh local strawberries and the sweetness is incredible! I also used local red pepper, parsley and mint. This definitely elevated the flavours for sure! Whatever you decide to add this salsa to, just make sure the meats or poultry are grilled, pan-seared or one-pan roasted will work perfectly.

HOW TO MAKE THIS RECIPE

It is optional to serve the salsa in a heirloom tomato, and if you decide, then begin by slicing off the top of the tomato, and remove the inside portion of the tomato. Dice only the meaty parts of the inside of the tomato to add to the salsa. In a medium bowl, add all of the ingredients, and combine well. Add the salsa inside the tomato to serve.

I served this delicious salsa in a large heirloom tomato and it definitely makes a statement. I served this delicious salsa with Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Sage Butter Sauce and it was absolutely delicious! See below!
