“What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us.”       Helen Keller

Inspiration, inspirational, to be inspired, by what or by whom?

The definition of inspiration is ‘giving you the enthusiasm to do or create something.’  When I ask myself, who has inspired me to create? The answer for me is easy, my beautiful mother.

I am who I am because of my mother. She has shown me and ingrained in me at a very young age the importance of creating with joy and passion for not only myself but to share with love ones. There was nothing more gratifying to my mother then her family.

When I decided to start a blog and the direction I wanted to take is what I hold dear to my heart. Both of my parents were born in Hungary and I grew up eating a lot of incredible authentic Hungarian food. My Mom and Grandmother were so incredible to watch when they were cooking up delicious meals and baking pastries without recipes. Since I was very young, watching my grandmother (mom’s mom) and my mother in their element creating effortlessly. Not only did my parents and grandparents motivate and encourage me to learn and develop my cooking skills, but they instilled in me the importance of living out our Hungarian heritage. Whether it was through our traditions, family stories, to carry on their native language,  celebrating our cultural events in our community, or simply interacting as a family with love and respect.

My parents were very kind, loving, generous people. They worked very hard to accomplish a happy successful life for our family. I feel very fortunate and blessed for the parents I had and to be able to honour them and continue their traditions is my gift to them.

Thank you for reading my inspirational story. I hope this gives you some encouragement and desired to start cooking and remember it’s the journey, so enjoy every minute of it!
