Easy Garlic Naan Bread

This Indian and South Asian naan bread recipe is fluffy, soft and a delicious garlic buttery flavour. This recipe has no yeast or egg, a simple easy recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup milk or water
  • 1/3 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2-3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 clove of garlic, crushed
  • chopped parsley or cilantro for garnishing

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add olive oil, milk/water and Greek yogurt. Using a wooden spoon, stir ingredients until the dough comes together. Transfer to the counter and knead for 2-3 minutes until the dough forms into a ball.
  2. Place dough in lightly oiled bowl, cover with a plastic wrap, and set aside to rest for at least 30 to 40 minutes.
  3. Flatten dough with your hands and cut dough into 6 equal pieces. Lightly flour a work area on countertop, roll out each dough into thin circle shape to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  4. Lightly brush skillet or cast iron pan with butter. Place dough in skillet/pan, and cook for about 1 minute until bubbles form and bottom is golden, flip and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Turn over and brush cooked side with garlic butter. Continue cooking the remaining dough.
  5. In a small sauce pot, melt butter and add garlic, simmer for about 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragnant. Brush over the warm naan bread and garnish with parsley or cilantro. Serve warm!
