Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Garlic and Sage Butter Sauce

This tender and juicy pork tenderloin is a perfect summertime dish any day of the week! This recipe is loaded with delicious flavours that include a rub added before grilling then a garlic and sage butter sauce which gave it that rich intense flavour.

The rub I used on this tenderloin has a lot of flavour, and the smoky paprika gives it that intensity, and the balance of sweetness from the honey, makes this dish so scrumptious. But it doesn’t stop there, the garlic and sage butter sauce adds an incredible, rich flavour, that takes this dish to the next level. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

This cut of meat is always a guarantee to be tender, as long as you don’t over cook it. It is always suggested to trim any excess fat. I will often purchase hormone and antibiotic free meat, and in my opinion it does taste better. I believe being raised on the farm has something to do with it.

Pork tenderloin is always a great choice for dinner parties, or a simple dinner for two. You are not standing over the store for hours at a time. If you barbecue this outdoors, it doesn’t take long and if you prepare it indoors, all it would require is pan searing it on all sides, and then transfer to the oven for about 20 minutes. Then add a couple of salads and you have a delicious meal. I served this dish with a strawberry avocado salsa and it was a perfect pairing. RECIPE INGREDIENTS

Pork Tenderloin: is a very tender cut of meat and doesn’t require to be cooked for a long period time, this recipe for 1 lb (450g) tenderloin only took 22 minutes; it still had a slight pinkish center which is what you want to avoid drying out the meat

Spices and seasoning: garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, salt and pepper adds a rich flavour and gives the meat colour

Honey: a sweet ingredient added to balance the spices, flavour and it gave the tenderloin it’s crusty surface

Butter: I used unsalted butter to manage salt intake

Garlic: for rich intense flavour

Sage: love the flavour of this earthy, hints of mint, and lemon herb to apt up meat dishes

Seasoning: salt and pepper needed to bring out the flavour of the sauce

WHAT MAKES THIS TENDERLOIN RECIPE SO DELICIOUS

It starts with the cut of meat and pork tenderloin is a very tender cut of meat that takes on the flavours of rubs or marinades very well. For this recipe I added spices and herbs rub and the sweetness of honey came together to enhance the spice and herb flavours.

The garlic and sage butter sauce wasn’t necessarily needed however, it elevated this dish to the point that we didn’t have any leftovers.

Remove the pork tenderloin from there refrigerator and remove any excess fat. Using a spoon and your hand to massage the rub over the tenderloin, making sure you covered all areas. Set the tenderloin aside. In a small saucepan, over medium heat, melt butter to a slow bubble, add the garlic and simmer for about 1-2 minutes, until the aroma releases. Add the sage, salt and pepper, and simmer for 2 minutes. Then remove from heat and set aside.

Heat grill to medium heat. Using tongs, place tenderloin on the grill and cook for about 20-25 minutes, turning every few minutes on all four sides to ensure even cooking. Lower lid a couple of times to cook internally and make sure you move tenderloin if it becomes too charred. Once cooked, transfer to a clean cutting board and cover with aluminum foil. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing so the juices remain in the meat. Using a sharp knife, slice crosswise about 1/2 inch thick.

Have a serving plate ready and to transfer the cut tenderloin. Then drizzle the Garlic and Sage Butter Sauce over the meat and serve immediately.
