How to make this delicious lemon chicken recipe:
Chicken breasts – this recipe calls for 2 10 -12 oz boneless skinless chicken breasts and once you cut them cut them in half on a diagonal, then it should be enough for 4 people. However, you can purchase them smaller for the size you want for each serving. Chicken tends to shrink and lose between 1-2 oz after it’s cooked, so keep that in mind.
Honey Garlic Butter Sauce: consists of
- minced garlic
- chicken broth, and vegetables broth can be substituted
- lemon juice
- honey that was infused with garlic: can be substituted for pure honey
- unsalted butter
- dried oregano
- basil
- salt and pepper.
The honey I used was infused with garlic from a local farmer, north of Tronto Ontario, near Parry Sound called Beaver Creek Organic Farm (@bcreekf) and they can be found on Instagram. The grow fresh produce and everything is unique, organic, sustainable, and absolutely delicious. The honey garlic jar that was gifted to me, it was labelled flu fighter.

Lemon Chicken with Honey Garlic Butter Sauce

- large skillet or cast iron pan
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 10-12 oz boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut diagonally
- 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Honey Garlic Butter Sauce:
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chicken broth (option: vegetable broth)
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 tsp infused honey garlic (substitute with pure honey)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- salt and pepper to season
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Place each piece of chicken breasts between 2 sheets of plastic wrap and pound chicken to about ¼ inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin.
- Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Then dredge each in flour, coating each side.
- Heat a large skillet or cast iron pan over medium-heat and add butter and olive oil. Once butter is melted, then add chicken to pan, and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until chicken is done. Transfer to a plate and cover with foil.
- Add garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, then add chicken broth, lemon juice, infused honey garlic (or honey) and butter. Bring to a boil and scrap the bottom of the pan, then reduce to heat, stir in oregano and basil. Finally, check the flavour, and season with a little bit of salt and pepper. Return the chicken pieces and simmer for about 5 minutes. .
- Coat chicken with the sauce while it's simmering, for about 2 minutes. You will notice the sauce starts to thicken.
- Serve chicken breasts with sauce, risotto and asparagus. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Preparing chicken breasts: cut the chicken diagonally, and pound them down to 1/4 inch thickness, then season them with salt and pepper, then dredge them with flour. Then add each piece to the medium heat pan once olive oil and butter is hot. Cook each side for 3-4 minutes, then transfer to a plate and cover with foil.
Sauté: chicken pieces 3-4 minutes on each side until golden in colour, transfer to plate. Make your Honey Garlic Butter Sauce, add garlic and saute for about 1 minute, then add chicken broth and can be substituted for vegetable broth, lemon, honey, butter, oregano and basil. This is the time to add any more salt and pepper if needed to season.
The chicken is tender and juicy with bold rich flavours and the sauce is incredible that makes this dish light, fresh and easy to make any day of the week!
Serve this delicious dish with buttered asparagus and garlic rice or risotto with fresh spinach and parsley added at the end of cooking. Garnish the chicken with fresh parsley.
