When you combine warm maple glaze peaches with cottage cheese is absolutely heavenly! This recipe is simple, easy to do and ready in minutes! Perfect for a quick weekday dessert.
Growing up cottage cheese was a staple in our house and I believe a lot of that had to do with growing up on a farm. We had chicken, turkeys, pigs and cows. Our one and only cow Molly, yes we named our beloved cow, she provided enough milk for our entire family of 9 children. I remember Mom making sour cream and cottage cheese with the extra milk and she used it in many of her baking and cooking. It was so fresh and love the fact that our animals were raised without hormones or antibiotics.
Whenever I use cottage cheese in my recipes, it brings back fond memories. Mom was an amazing cook and baker and everything she made was wonderful, it was made with so much love and care.
HELPFUL TIPS
Let’s start with the peaches, make sure they are freestone as they are much easier to slice. I always like to make sure the peaches are firm and yet ripe enough that you get the natural sweetness from the fruit. Look for a variety that are mid to late summer, they have a yellow flesh and very sweet.
Pan-sear the peaches in some melted butter. Not only does it add flavour but it creates this lovely golden colour on the peaches.
Cottage cheese for this recipe is so delicious with the sweet peaches and maple syrup. I would recommend a 4% fat content, which has a creamier texture. However, a 2% fat content can be substituted.
For crunchy texture, I added walnuts and it is one of favourite nuts to use, it’s so versatile. Other options are pecans or sliced almonds.

WHAT MAKES THIS DISH SO DELICIOUS
If you are not familar with cottage cheese, it has this creamy texture with small curds and when it’s warmed, the creamy texture and flavour becomes so delicious, the cheese flavour is mild and yet slightly tangy.
When combining a cheese with a sweet fruit, the flavour balance is quite phenomenal. A wonderful balance of sweetness with a savory slight tangy taste. It is so delicious!
Once the cottage cheese is added to the dish with the warm golden peaches, it starts to melt and it is the BEST thing you have ever tasted. It is a recipe you will make often during the summer months when the fresh peaches are in season.
I suggested adding maple syrup to the skillet and if you like, burbon is always an option. Burbon will add a sweet yet nutty flavour to the dish.
Storing fresh peaches is one thing but storing cooked is another. I would store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Warm the peaches in a skillet on low for a few minutes.
