This chicken burger recipe is so easy to put together in a short period time to enjoy a tender, juicy chicken breast dredged in flour that is seasoned with spices and fresh rosemary. The soft, and absolutely delicious homemade sweet potato bun (A Baking Journey’s recipe) and toppings are simple with a homemade aioli that adds a burst of flavour.

What a fantastic chicken burger! It is easy to make and simple ingredients that you would have in your pantry and refrigerator. It is so delicious and the aioli adds another depth of flavour with all of the toppings makes this burger irresistible and so yummy!
The toppings I chose for this recipe is thinly sliced red onion, lettuce, tomato and a light creamy cabbage slaw. There are so many topping options for this chicken burger. Try any greens of your choice, spinach, kale, mix greens, try sautéed onions, mushrooms or perhaps a good cheddar cheese. If you choose my choices and decide to try something new, either way, you will love this delicious chicken burger. I do recommend making the aioli and adding it to this burger.
Ingredients:
Chicken breast: I often recommend organic or hormone and antibiotic free chicken if all possible for a healthier choice. I know organic can be expensive, however, sometimes you can find these on sale at the grocery stores.
Seasoning: these were selected according to the flavours that compliments the chicken and it definitely tenderizes and the outcome is delicious
Aioli: is a bold flavourful dip to bring this burger to the next level; great sweet potato and white potato fry dipping sauce
Sweet potato buns: soft, delicious and is a perfect bun with this burger
Sweet potato fries: have a natural sweetness, and they compliment beautifully the sweet potato bun. These fries were made in the air fryer and coated with arrowroot starch, Himalayan salt and paprika.
Make ahead:
Seasoning: prepare the seasoning ingredients for you chicken breast burger and set aside
Aioli: this can be made ahead as well, mix the ingredients and set it in the refrigerator until you are ready to assemble the burger. To note, the longer it sits, the more flavorful it will become.
Chicken breast: Option:1 cut them into the pieces for the burger, and set them back in the refrigerator and make sure you cover them so they don’t dry. Option 2: if you know you will be serving the burgers within an hour or two, cook them and set them in a baking dish, cover them and warm them in the oven at 275°F oven about 20 minutes before serving
Toppings: watch and slice your toppings, and have them ready when it’s time to assemble the burger

Using a plate, add the seasonings and flour. Take each chicken breast and cut them in half along the side of the chicken breast. Place the cut pieces between two layers of saran wrap and pound with a meat mallet or rolling pin to about 2.5 cm or 1 inch thickness.
Take each piece of cut chicken breast and dredge with the seasoned flour, shake off excess, and place in a hot skillet over medium heat. Cook about 3-4 minutes on each side until crispy and flip.
Then place them in a baking dish and place them in the oven at 275°F covered with foil until ready to assemble. This ensures they will be thoroughly cooked.
Making the Aioli

Take a medium bowl, measure and combine together the mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt and dijon mustard is using. I recommend making this ahead of time and set it in the refrigerator when ready to assemble the burger. This makes a delicious dipping sauce.

These soft, beautiful, delicious sweet potato buns were a hit with this chicken burger! Thank you so much to A Baking Journey recipe!! I made half the recipe, and next time I will place them in a rectangle baking dish to avoid the buns from slanting. But I highly recommend them!

I decided to add a homemade light creamy cabbage salad as well to my burger for that extra crunch and flavour. Serve it up with fries, veggies, salad or enjoy it on it’s own. I made sweet potatoes fries in my air-fryer, a homemade sweet potato bun, and pickles. The gorgeous sweet potato recipe was from A Baking Journey website. https://www.abakingjourney.com/sweet-potato-buns/
